Indonesian natural stone
Sukabumi Green Stone
A green Indonesian stone, most often enquired for pool surrounds and water features.

Overview
Sukabumi Green Stone is named after the Sukabumi area in West Java, where the stone is quarried. It is one of six stones we produce and export, and the one most often specified where a wet area should read as green rather than grey.
It is a natural material, so it behaves like one. Tone moves across a batch, the wet colour differs from the dry colour, and the joint between two pieces stays visible. A design that accepts that will look better than one that argues with it.
Appearance and variation
Green, and deeper in tone when the surface is wet than when it is dry. Tone moves across a batch: some pieces read lighter, some carry a darker streak. Before you fix a finish, judge the tone the way it will be seen in the finished work, and say in your enquiry if the tone range matters to the design.
Tested technical properties (water absorption, density, slip rating, frost resistance) are not published here, because no test data has been supplied for this stone. If your specification calls for a tested value, ask for it in the enquiry and we will confirm what can be provided and what cannot.
Sizes and finishes
What we need to quote this stone
Quoted per order
Pool work usually sets the module: coping, deck and surround pieces are cut from the same stone so the pool reads as one material. Send the pool schedule and the fixing detail, and we quote the thickness and finish against it.
Tell us five things and we can quote:
- Thickness
- Format and nominal size
- Surface finish
- Edge treatment
- Packing unit
Formats, thickness and finish are quoted against your order rather than published as a fixed list, because what the block allows and what the finish needs change from one order to the next. Send the schedule or the drawing with your enquiry and we will confirm what we can produce for it.
Applications
What this stone is asked for
- Pool surrounds and pool decks
- Water features and wet walls
- Garden paving and steps
- Wall cladding where a green face is wanted
- Landscape borders and retaining faces
These are the uses this stone is usually asked for. Whether it suits your project depends on the finish, the thickness and how your contractor will fix it, so confirm the application in your enquiry before you specify.

Questions
Sukabumi Green Stone: what buyers ask
Will the batch match the green in your photographs?
Treat a photograph as an indication, not a match. Sukabumi Green Stone varies from block to block, and the tone deepens when the surface is wet. Tell us how close the match needs to be for the project, and we answer for the batch we can supply rather than for a sample that is no longer in the yard.
Is Sukabumi Green Stone suitable inside a swimming pool, or only around it?
Both are asked for. What is possible depends on the finish, the thickness and how your contractor will fix the pieces, so put the application and the fixing detail in the enquiry and we confirm what can be supplied for it.
My project runs in stages. Can you hold the same stone across two shipments?
That is a production and packing question rather than a catalogue one. Say in the enquiry that the project runs in stages and how much of the order comes first, and we confirm what can be held and what has to be re-selected.
What thickness should I specify for pool coping?
Thickness follows the fixing detail, so we do not publish one. Send the section drawing with the enquiry and we quote the thickness and finish that go with it.
